Unable to score, the Wizards won’t bother to nitpick. At least Real Salt Lake also didn’t find the net, as the teams battled to a 90-minute 0-0 draw Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Finishing a six-game Major League Soccer road trip, the Wizards,…read more…

  1. Taking a couple weeks off, or is it something more? I understand what tough work this is, so just letting you know it’s appreciated.

  2. Thanks for the kind words, Szazzy — I was getting a little burned out and wasn’t really sure anyone was reading it anyways, but lets see if I can’t get back into the swing of things here.

  3. Well that visitor number keeps rising consistently. It’s impressive what’s been done here in under a year. No one can do this alone though. You need to promote your work on BigSoccer and elsewhere.

It’s not vain, or greedy. You don’t have advertising, and even if you did, you deserve a bit back. It’s important that people have easy access to your work. I can forget to come for to any site for weeks, but it’s far from intentional or an indictment of the content. It’s human nature.

Besides the occasional comment from the ever present “I’m a Wizards fan and haven’t complained about something today” crowd, people will be happy to receive reminders of regular coverage. Especially if it’s something substantial like an award winning KC columnist finally expressing an interest in the game.

Buzz Carrick posts his stories on BS in the Dallas forum, and big stories (like his Draft Preview) on the MLS boards. People say thanks. If you’re confident you’ve got good content, people will appreciate the easy link to the updates. I wish Hillcrest Road, Down the Byline, and KC Soccer Review did more appropriate self-promoting. It’s not Web 2.0 jargon about networking, it’s just common sense that people need to be constantly reminded of what you’re doing. I like Champions Radio or Dave Denholm broadcasts but Im much more likely to listen if I come across a link to listen than remembering to go there.

  4. If you’ve done something extraordinary like the background work on all the Wizards trialists, please, please, please take the time to ask for feedback from Wizards fans.

  5. I second Szazzy. I miss the unique content that “OC” offers. Keep up the good work and hope to see more soon.
