Matthew Hoff: Harvard

5’10” 155 lb. forward from St. Louis (Chaminade H.S.).  As a freshman in 1998 he had 20 goals and 8 assists and was All-Metro honorable mention.  Followed by a sophomore season with 21 goals and 17 assists, making Second Team All-Metro.  As a junior he finished with 22 goals and 12 assists, leading the team to it’s first ever state championship and a final record of 31-1.  He was selected First Team All-Metro.  Finally, as a senior — despite missing 6 games because of recruiting visits — he capped his prep career with 33 goals and 18 assists, in route to being named First Team All-State, NSCAA/Adidas All-American, and Missouri Player of the Year (former MO Players of the Year include MLSers Matt McKeon, Chris Klein, Taylor Twellman, Pat Noonan, and Brad Davis).  Chaminade defended its state championship, going 31-2-1.  High school totals: 96 goals, 55 assists and a 115-8-6 record. 

At Harvard, he was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and second team All-Ivy as a freshman after leading the team in goals (8) and total points (18).  Also second team All-Ivy as a sophomore with team-high 5 assists, as well as 3 goals.  Second team All-Ivy as a junior tallying 5 goals and 3 assists.  As a co-captain his senior season last Fall, recorded 2 goals and 8 assists and earned First Team All-Ivy recognition.  Played with U-20 USA National Teamer Andre Akpan his final two seasons.
