2008 Draft, Take Two

The 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft is today which means four more players will have their chance to earn a Wizards’ roster spot.  Kansas City has picks 11, 25, 39, and 53 in the draft, which will be conducted via a conference call.  Check back here for the team’s selections.

For context, only 14 of the 52 picks in last year’s supplemental draft made an appearance in a regular season game, one of whom was Wizard Aaron Hohlbein (360 minutes).  For the diehards out there, below is a list of players Kansas City has drafted in the Supplemental Draft the last three years, in the order they were picked.  Only Hohlbein, Michael Kraus, and Ryan McMahen remain employed by K.C.

  • 2007: Aaron Hohlbein, Michael Todd, Chris Konopka, Eric Frimpong, AJ Godbolt, Michael Kraus, and Willy Guadarrama
  • 2006: Anthony Noriega, Ryan McMahen, Corey Farabi, Chris Hamberger, and Luke Enna
  • 2005: Edwin Ruiz, Doug Lascody, and Ryan Caugherty

  1. Let’s hope we get at least one player here that’s on the roster next year. Hohlbein is the only player on that list worth anything so far. McMahen is still on the roster but has been injured the whole time.
