The "LH" logo was designed for the first ever "Kansas City Wizards Founder's Day: A Tribute To Lamar Hunt."

When we first began discussing things we could do to honor Mr. Hunt's memory, we (OnGoal and the Wizards) decided we wanted to wear a special commemorative patch on our kits. This logo was originally designed to be that patch. As the league came in and released the "official" patch that Dallas and Columbus would wear, we backed off on using this patch and instead used it on merchandise for the Founder's Day game. It was used on everything from the flags flying over Arrowhead (and presented to the Hunt family by OnGoal) and on the special-edition kit itself. Those kits were then auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Kansas City Soccer Foundation and to help those affected by the Greensburg tornado.

The logo itself mimics the shape & style of the original "Wiz" logo, substituting Mr. Hunt's initials in where the original "Wiz" moniker stood, and making nods to the club's founding in 1996 and its championship in 2000. The logo was approved by the Hunt family prior to its usage, and I'm told Norma Hunt was particularly fond of it.

I kinda like the LH one, it is simple and yet interesting, though I really do think we could do much better with our logo. A good logo I think gives people a better opinion of the team where a dumb logo makes people less interested in a first impression type of way.

And btw, I'm the proud owner of two jerseys (home and away) and at least one t-shirt with the old logo on it.

Just a point on the Lamar logo, they didn't commission a graphic artist per say. The logo was done by Wizards employee Chad Reynolds. Commission implies (at least to me) that they hired someone outside to do it.
